01  The grant

Everything written here is free to take

The material on this site is published free of charge and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence. Anyone may quote it, copy it, republish it, translate it and adapt it, for any purpose including a commercial one, without asking and without paying — provided the source is attributed and the licence is named.

No permission is necessary, and none would be refused, because there is nothing to refuse: a school, a journalist, a rival company and a critic writing against us all hold the same licence on the same terms.

The licence covers the text and diagrams of these pages. Its own terms, and not this page’s summary of them, are what a reuser relies on.

02  The exception

The name is not part of the grant

The name PrepGraph, the PrepGraph marks and logos, and the names of the sibling properties are not covered by that licence, and no licence to them is given here or implied by the licence above. Take the text freely; do not use the name in a way that suggests PrepGraph wrote, approved, reviewed, endorsed or is associated with your work when it did not and is not.

The distinction is narrow, and the first use is the one this site is for: quoting a position of ours and demolishing it in public needs no permission and is exactly what the licence exists to allow. Presenting your own material as though it came from us is a different act, and the only one the licence does not reach.

03  The term that matters

Nothing on this site is a claim of a result

Nothing here is a finding. No efficacy is claimed for anything described on this site, no result is reported, and no measurement of any kind is published. The positions here are arguments about what would have to be true; the research directions are questions, each carrying the condition under which it would be abandoned. Neither of those is evidence, and neither becomes evidence by being quoted confidently.

So: nobody may represent anything on this site as a finding, a benchmark, a standard, a rating, a validation, an endorsement or a certification — in a tender or procurement response, a prospectus, a proposal, a pitch, an advertisement or a press release. That restriction binds anyone at PrepGraph exactly as it binds a stranger, and it is the term we are most likely to be caught breaking, which is why it is written down.

If a result is ever worth having, it will be published as a study with its method attached. Until such a document exists, the honest description of this site is that it states positions.

Anyone may

  • Quote it, at any length, with attribution
  • Republish it, translate it, adapt it, argue with it
  • Cite it as a position PrepGraph holds, and date the citation
  • Use it commercially, including in work that competes with ours

Nobody may

  • Represent anything here as a finding or a result
  • Represent it as a benchmark, a standard or a rating
  • Represent it as a validation, an endorsement or a certification
  • Use the PrepGraph name to imply we wrote or approved your work
The left column is the licence, and needs no permission. The right column is not a matter of permission at all: the status does not exist, so it cannot be granted.

04  Warranty and advice

Offered for your judgement, not for your reliance

The material is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. It may be wrong; where we learn that it is, it is corrected — but no undertaking is given that any page is accurate, complete or current at the moment you read it.

Nothing here is professional, legal, technical or educational advice, and nothing here is a recommendation to buy or adopt anything, ours included. These are positions offered for a reader’s own judgement, and a reader who acts on one does so on their own assessment of it. If the decision matters, test the position against your own school, your own timetable and your own constraints rather than against our confidence in it.

06  Errors

How a mistake here gets fixed

If something on this site is wrong — a fact, a date, a broken link, or a sentence that claims more than it should — write to research@prepgraph.com and say what it is and where. That is among the most useful messages this address receives.

A correction to anything of substance is made in the text and carries a dated note saying what changed and when. Corrections are not made silently: a page that quietly edits itself asks a reader to trust a version they can no longer see. A typographical fix is not noted; a changed claim always is.
